Energy efficiency shaping up to be a key factor for homeowners

Nationwide’s recent housing market survey revealed that over half of those surveyed (54%) are considering enhancing their home. Interestingly, 29% of those surveyed wanted to improve energy efficiency or reduce the carbon footprint of their home. This consideration has become increasingly relevant in light of surging energy costs. A recent survey for Savills found that 68% of respondents said that 68% of respondents said that EPC ratings are important in decision-making when it comes to buying a home (34% said they placed more importance on these than a year ago). If more than 75% of a property’s energy was from renewable sources, 59% would be willing to pay more .
