Lockdown encourages first-time buyers to save

According to research conducted by Skipton Building Society, would-be first-time buyers have been able to save up to three times more into Lifetime Isas as lockdown restrictions encouraged saving.

With lockdown in full effect, savers deposited an average of £995.69 into their cash Lifetime Isas during April, three times more than in the first three months of 2020. In May the figure dropped slightly to £837.25, and dropped again to £521 in June, coinciding with lockdown measures easing across the UK.
