After the announcement of a controversial new Planning Bill in the Queen’s Speech last month, MPs are set to vote on the proposed overhaul of the current planning system sometime soon. The proposed reform is intended to reduce local opposition blocking development by classifying areas in the UK as either ‘protected’, for ‘renewal’ or for ‘growth’. In areas for growth, planning applications that conform to pre-approved requirements would automatically gain initial approval.
