A new Code of Practice for builders is set to benefit consumers looking to buy new build properties. Customers buying new build homes can now benefit from increased protections – with the new Code of Practice putting more requirements on builders in terms of the treatment of customers and how complaints are dealt with.
The New Homes Quality Board (NHQB) will oversee the implication of the new code that puts consumers at the heart of the new build process. Including practices like prohibiting high pressure selling, protected deposits and fair reservation agreements, the simplified new code replaces the larger previous version with a view to boosting consumer confidence.
