Congratulations, to Dan Donaldson who nominated Trendlewood Church and Holy Trinity Church for a Community Giving nomination which is run by Skipton Building Society.
The charity is run by a group of people including Dan, who are involved in the homeless breakfast project, where every Sunday morning hot food and drink is served to the homeless in Bristol city centre.
The charity has received £1,000 from Skipton, which is greatly received and will ensure the longevity of the project. Skipton had 40 donations to give away and their judges had the difficult decision of deciding which causes would receive one of the 40 donations from the high volume and standard of nominations received.
They enjoyed reading about how passionately Dan feels about the cause and what a difference this donation is likely to make.
“The group started providing hot food and drink to homeless people in Bristol on a Sunday morning approximately 20 years ago. Originally driving to car parks etc this has evolved to every Sunday morning at 8am at Bristol bus station and is attended by up to 50 homeless people each week. Volunteers of the group buy and cook hot food and drink at home to be handed out that morning. Clothing and sleeping bags etc are also provided from church funds and donations. Leftover food is collected from the local Greggs Bakery on a Saturday evening and distributed at the same time. I am involved as a cook and driver and it is pleasing to see how grateful the clients are receiving some hot food and drink to help them through the day”
Well done Dan, what a great cause.
