25 years of The Mortgage Brain – we’re celebrating our success!

We were so proud to celebrate 25 years of The Mortgage Brain on 28th August 2026 – what a journey it’s been! Started back in the summer of 2001 by our very own CEO Enzo Mora, Gloucester-based business has grown into a successful national mortgage and protection brokerage with a large team helping thousands of customers across the UK. “It was just me at the beginning working out of a cupboard in Parkers Estate Agents in Hucclecote,” remembers Enzo. “The business grew quickly so I soon had to take on a part-time administrator shortly followed by a paraplanner to support me.”

Now 25 years on and several office moves later, we recently announced a record turnover of over £8 million. “Despite our outstanding growth we’ve retained the same focus we started with,” adds Enzo. “We look after our customers, support all our staff and are continually evolving the business to find better ways of providing mortgage and protection advice. Along the way many people have been crucial to our success, and I’d like a special shout out to Michelle Weir who is our longest-serving member of staff, joining us as an administrator in 2003 and being part of the team for more than two decades.”

Our autumn annual conference will give us the opportunity to celebrate this anniversary with the wider team and, most importantly, to recognise everyone, staff and customers, who have helped make the last 25 years possible and the future even brighter.

Then and now: Enzo remembers in the early 2000s we could source mortgages allowing customers to borrow up to 125% of the property’s value, generally through a combination of a mortgage and an unsecured loan. It seems extraordinary now and really demonstrates how much the mortgage market, regulation and approach to affordability have changed over the past 25 years.
